EAGAN, MN — Photos and reports taken by the Eagan Police Department allege that Rep. John Thompson was involved in a domestic assault incident in 2004, Fox 9 reported. In August of 2004, police investigated a hang-up call from an apartment on Golfview Drive in Eagan, the report said. Thompson's girlfriend at the time said he punched and choked her in front of children because he was mad that she changed the password on the answering machine, according to the report. More violence ensued, according to statements given to the police, the station reported. Police took the woman and her daughter to a domestic abuse shelter and arrested Thompson, who was not charged in connection with the incident, according to the report. Thompson has been a subject of controversy in the past month, following his claim that he was racially profiled during a traffic stop on July 4. St. Paul Police Chief Todd Axtell publicly demanded an apology from Thompson, saying he was pulled over for not having a front license plate. Fox 9 also reported that it had uncovered four incidents of domestic violence cases involving Thompson. The station was searching for his residence when they found the domestic abuse allegations, it said. Questions had arisen about Thompson's residency after it was discovered that he has a Wisconsin driver's license. After the report Gov. Tim Walz and Lt. Gov.
