Press release from the City Of Davis: June 11, 2021 5:21 pm In preparation for California's June 15 reopening, Healthy Davis Together, a joint project between the City of Davis and UC Davis, is shifting its free community COVID-19 testing program to include more neighborhood testing locations. On Monday, June 21, when summer school begins, Healthy Davis Together will open three new community testing sights at Davis Senior High School, Frances Ellen Watkins Harper Junior High, and Ralph Waldo Emerson Junior High, expanding the testing program that was introduced this spring in partnership with Davis Joint Unified School District (DJUSD). Friday, June 18, will be the last day of testing at Davis Senior Center and Veterans Memorial Center as the two facilities begin the transition back to providing community programs. The new school testing facilities will be open to all members of the Davis community. "I'm proud to be a part of the Healthy Davis Together community testing program and to have gotten to know so many wonderful people who have been tested regularly at the Davis Senior Center," said Peter "PJ" Kelly, a greeter at Davis Senior Center who will continue in his role at Emerson Junior High. "I look forward to seeing familiar and new faces at Emerson this summer." In addition to providing free saliva-based testing to community members, Healthy Davis Together is supporting Davis' and Yolo County's vaccination efforts. "Getting vaccinated is one of the most important things each of us can do," says Dr. Sheri Belafsky, medical director for Healthy Davis Together and director of the Medical Surveillance Program for UC Davis Health. "However, testing will also continue to be important as there are members of our community who are not vaccinated yet, including children under 12, and although our positivity rates remain low, we still have people who test positive for the virus, often with one of the more contagious variants. We are excited to work with DJUSD to make community testing available in more neighborhoods this summer for anyone who needs it." Get tested for free at any of the locations below.
