Can Overwork Kill You? Cardiologist and scientist Dr. Ernst von Schwarz appears live on Fox Morning News to share information on the health risks of habitual overwork.
Consistently working long hours is detrimental to your health and is connected to a higher risk of developing fatal or disabling ischemic heart disease or stroke, according to a recent study published by the World Health Organization. "Fortunately, there are actions we can take to lessen the risk," says Dr. von Schwarz.
The number of people worldwide who are working long hours defined as 55+ hours per week has been increasing. By 2016, nearly 9% of the world’s population were consistently working more than 55 hours per week.
