Hills residents should prepare for high fire danger starting at 5pm on Sunday, July 18 by signing up for alerts, reviewing evacuation routes, packing or refreshing "go bags," and parking off street when possible. The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for the East Bay Hills from 5pm Sunday, July 18 through 5pm Monday, July 19. Fires that start during Red Flag Warnings can spread rapidly due to high winds and dry vegetation. Take these steps to prepare: Sign up for AC Alert, the City's emergency notification serviceLeave your phone turned on so you can be alerted, even if you are sleeping.Review your household's evacuation zone at community.zonehaven.com. Officials will use these zones to share evacuation instructions, if necessary.Put your go-bag by the front door.Make sure to plan at least two routes away from your neighborhood. During an evacuation you may not be able to drive, so consider using the network of Berkeley Path Wanderers paths in your evacuation plans.Park off-street. Back your car into your driveway or garage, leaving streets clear for emergency vehicles.
