Press release from the University of Alabama at Birmingham: July 22, 2021 Graduating students can walk in one of three ceremonies in Bartow Arena, but they must register by July 30. (Photo taken prior to the COVID-19 pandemic) Photo by: John Brown Commencement for the University of Alabama at Birmingham will return to Bartow Arena, with ceremonies scheduled for Friday, Aug. 13, and Saturday, Aug. 14. Students who wish to walk in the ceremonies must register online by July 30. Students will receive text messages with important information prior to commencement both a week before and the day of the ceremonies. More information for students can be found at uab.edu/commencement. All graduate students, except those in the School of Nursing, will participate in the ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, in Bartow Arena. School of Nursing students — both undergraduate and graduate — will participate in a special combined ceremony to be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, in Bartow Arena. This is a one-time special event necessary due to social distancing guidelines.   The ceremony for all other undergraduates will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, in Bartow Arena.  New this semester, graduates will now enter Bartow Arena at the ground-level entrance of 13th Street South and walk up to the second-floor concourse to line up.  Safety is UAB's priority. The pandemic is a fluid situation that UAB is monitoring; visit uab.edu/commencement in the days leading up to commencement weekend for the latest COVID-19 safety guidelines.
