Significant Arrest Update:
On Wednesday, July 21, 2021, Detectives with the Homicide Unit were able to establish probable cause and secure arrest warrants for Tynessia Naji (DOB: 7/1997) for the charges of Aggravated Assault and Felony Murder. Tynessia Naji was transported to the Fulton County jail. This case has been closed by arrest. The Atlanta Police Department is steadfast in its mission to reduce crime and bring violent criminals to justice. This is another example of the fine work our detectives do in solving cases. Our officers, investigators and the entire APD family are relentless about the safety of the citizens of Atlanta and will leave no stone unturned to bring justice to victims and their families and hold perpetrators accountable. We would like to take a moment to commend and thank our homicide detectives for their dedication, hard work and diligence in solving yet another case.
Previously Released:
Preliminary information: On Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at around 6:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to 1381 Kimberly Way SW on a fight call. Before arriving on scene, the call was changed to a person shot call. Upon arrival, officers located a male suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. Investigators with the Homicide Unit were contacted and will be working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The investigation continues.
