Atlanta Police Department: Atlanta Police Officers Apprehend Armed Murder Suspect Shortly After Deadly Shooting

Press release from the Atlanta Police Department: 07/23/2021 On Tuesday, July 20, 2021, officers were dispatched to 1381 Kimberly Way in Southwest Atlanta, regarding a person shot call. Upon arrival, officers located a male who appeared to have been shot. He was transported to the hospital and did not survive his injuries. Responding officers, including an off-duty sergeant, arrived at the scene moments after receiving the call. They quickly located the shooting suspect, still armed with a shotgun. The officers took cover and began ordering the suspect to drop the weapon. The suspect eventually complied with the officers' orders and they were able to take her into custody with no shots fired. Homicide investigators are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.   We are extremely proud of the professionalism exhibited by both of these officers. They acted quickly and worked together and we believe their actions were vital in safely apprehending this armed suspect.     A portion of the Body Worn Camera footage is included in the link below.
