MAINTENANCE WORKER I City of Portland, Maine Health and Human Services Department – Barron Center – Full-Time - Schedule to include weekends, rotating holidays and on-call duties The City of Portland is looking for a maintenance worker for the Barron Center, the City's 219-bed skilled and long-term care facility. This position will need to know or learn regulations as they apply to long- term care. In addition to codes related to building, fire, electrical, HVAC plumbing and disaster preparedness, the candidate must have knowledge of the tools, equipment, methods, materials, and skills used in a variety of construction, winter operations and maintenance activities. Ability to plan and organize work on a day-to-day basis is essential. Must be able to communicate clearly and maintain positive relationships with all divisions, residents and families, vendors and other City departments. The candidate must have the ability to make out clear and accurate written reports as required for work records, operating records and accident reports. Must possess a valid Maine Class C Driver’s License and maintain a good driving record. Offers of employment are contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory criminal background check and pre-employment physical. Pay range starting at $762.40/week.
