Job Summary The Window Washer is responsible for cleaning exterior and interior windows on the Student Union & Recreation Center following established protocols. As a member of the Student Union Operations crew, this position provides continuous backup and support unit for the Student Union Custodial & Maintenance Services. All employees are expected to support CWU’s commitment to diversity and to bring and support inclusion into the university environment. Job Duties Window Washing: - Clean interior and exterior glass on the Student Union & Recreation Center at all levels. - Erect and inspect scaffolding per state law regulations. - Wash exterior windows using Tucker window system and hand squeegee. - Use scaffolding, ladders and aerial lift devices to reach and clean interior and exterior windows. - Move and replace furniture and equipment to gain better access to windows. - Clean and pressure wash outside and inside cobwebs, brick, and tile of building. - Service and maintain equipment. Custodial: - Outside Areas: Shovel snow, de-ice, clean concrete, empty trash, blow leaves, and wipe tables at all entrances and patios. - Public Areas: Sweep, mop and machine scrub tile and concrete floors, vacuums carpets, spot and shampoo carpets as needed, clean tables and other furniture, clean under cushions and furniture, empty and wash trash receptacles, clean drinking fountains, wash windows, dust all horizontal surfaces, remove all cobwebs, clean and oil all woodwork as needed. - Restrooms and Locker Rooms: Sweep and mop floors, check and fill all dispensers, clean and sanitizes sinks, mirrors, and chrome, wash walls and partitions, empty trash and wash trash receptacles, clean and sanitize toilets and urinals, dust all horizontal surfaces. - Meeting Rooms and Offices Areas: Vacuum carpets, spot and shampoo carpets as needed, clean furniture, empty and wash trash receptacles, dust all horizontal surfaces, remove all cobwebs, clean and oil all woodwork as needed. Clean rubber, wood, and concrete floors, and wash windows. - Maintain Building Security: Lock and unlock the building as needed. - Perform special custodial projects such as floor finishing. - Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Experience washing window Experience or training using ladders, scaffolding, extension poles and aerial lifts devices and/or similar equipment. Demonstrated willingness and/or experience working with students and/or co-workers from a wide range of abilities, backgrounds and experiences. Must be able to follow written and/or verbal instructions and comply with safety policies and procedures. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position OR applicable combination of experience and/or training which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position. Preferred Qualifications Experience using email software such as MS Outlook Experience using computer software to record hours worked and/or leave requests Training/experience performing general custodial work. Training/experience in the service and maintenance of work equipment. Experience moving and setting up office furniture, partitions, and cubicles. Experience in special set-ups such as staging, chairs, and barriers. A record of promoting inclusivity in the work environment. Potential to mentor and educate students who will serve diverse populations. Schedule/Appointment: Thursday - Monday, 6:00am-2:30pm (30 minute lunch) / WFSE Bargaining Unit 1 Working Conditions: Work environments will be both indoors and outdoors. Indoor conditions will range from university office environments to maintenance shops and will include exposure to noise, dust, cramped spaces, etc. Outdoor environments will include exposure to heat and inclement weather and may include periods of daylight and darkness. In all environments the employee will be exposed to environmental distractions and risks associated with using hand and power tools and will be expected to observe applicable safety precautions. The physical demands of this position include but may not be limited to: standing, walking, seeing, climb ladders/scaffolding, working from heights, twisting, reaching, grasping, kneeling, and repetitive movement of all appendages. Incumbent will be required to lift, carry, push, pull or move medium to heavy loads up to 50 lbs., often repeatedly. Must be able to perform the physical demands of the position. Occasional travel may be required.
