Classic Rock Garage Band Seeking Amateur Players

Meets

El Camino near Fair Oaks, Carmichael CA

Description

Update: There was quite a bit of interest to my original post, and this has evolved into a kind of meetup/jam scheduled for the afternoon of Saturday, 07/31 in Carmichael. We have a number of people signed up, but have room for another guitarist, a keyboardist, or versatile players to back up other key positions. I will be prepared to cover bass, but I would welcome someone who can sit in on bass for a few songs so I can play guitar or sing. I'm hoping this will turn into a regular thing. 7/31 Song List [original studio recording key, tempo]: Cocaine, Eric Clapton [A?, 105] Fortunate Son, CCR [C, 133] Free Fallin', Tom Petty [F, 85] Johnny B. Goode, Chuck Berry [Bb, 167] Mustang Sally, Wilson Pickett [C, 110] My Best Friend's Girl, The Cars [F, 120] Satisfaction, Rolling Stones [E, 136] Taking Care of Business, BTO [C, 129] Truckin', Grateful Dead [E, 126] This is only a week away, so there's not a lot of practice time, and I need to know who's coming. If you are interested, please read the original post below and contact me right away for more information. Chris --- Original Post: Like many other amateur musicians, I haven't played with other people in well over a year. What's more, I recently moved to the Sacramento area, so I don't know any musicians here. I'm itching to get back to playing live music with some cool people. The good news is that I can host (electronic drum kit on site, roomy/clean/cool practice space with bathroom and fridge, 420 friendly). I'm hoping to get this going in the next 2-4 weeks. ME: 49-year-old white dude. I play mainly bass and rhythm guitar, and I can sing a little. I have a wide range of musical interests, but mostly enjoy classic and progressive rock from the 70's and 80's, with some 60's and 90's. Here are the kinds of artists I'd love to play: Allman Brothers, Bad Company, Black Crows, Bob Seger, Bob Marley, Cars, Chicago, Clapton, Clash, CCR, David Bowie, David Gray, Dire Straits, Doobie Bros, Doors, Duran Duran, Eagles, Eric Clapton, Fleetwood Mac, George Thorogood, Grateful Dead, Hall & Oates, Jethro Tull, Jimmy Buffet, Joe Walsh, John Mellencamp, Kansas, Led Zeppelin, Little Feat, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Oingo Boingo, Pink Floyd, Peter Tosh, Police, RHCP, Rolling Stones, Rush, Steely Dan, Steve Miller, Stone Temple Pilots, Talking Heads, Tom Petty, Toto, Van Halen, Van Morrison, The Who, Yes, ZZ-top. YOU: motivated to practice/play regularly, learn new songs, improve your game, and show up with a good attitude. Demographics not important, you just need to be a responsible adult who is easy-going, trustworthy. Players of all instruments are welcome, regulars and guests. This is for enjoyment. Nobody is likely to ever pay us, and it probably won't launch your musical career. You should be here for fun, comradery, personal growth, and all that sort of hippy-dippy stuff. SAFETY: For the protection of the whole group, all members need to be vaccinated. If any of this resonates with you, hit me up and let's talk. Chris
