The SF Marin Food Bank is comprised of a dedicated team of approximately 150 staff working collaboratively to provide over 50 million pounds of food to over 210,000 people in the Bay Area – a region where 1 in 5 people are at risk of hunger. We are currently looking for a Home-Delivery Distribution Associate to help welcome and check in delivery drivers. POSITION PURPOSE In response to the Covid crisis, the SF-Marin Food Bank scaled its home-delivery service from approximately 250 deliveries per week to a peak of 12,000 per week since the crisis began. Under the coordination of the Home-Delivery Distribution Coordinator, this role is responsible for welcoming, checking in, and assisting delivery drivers with their grocery bag pickups. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES Delivery Distribution • Welcome home-delivery drivers to the Food Bank. • Direct drivers to pickup and waiting lanes. • Collect driver information and confirm against existing lists. • Remind and appreciate drivers for the crucial role they play in providing needed food to participants who are homebound and/or sheltering in place. • Complete a quick health check with drivers. • Educate drivers on delivery protocols. • Troubleshoot driver challenges with routing software. • Assist drivers with loading groceries. • Confer regularly with and seek guidance from Home-Delivery Distribution Coordinator and Home-Delivery Operations Supervisor. • Adhere to Food Bank and Home-Delivery policies and procedures. • Take note of driver feedback about delivery program and share with team. • Evaluate practices and processes to identify areas for improvement, propose solutions, and share with teammates, Coordinator and/or Supervisor for possible implementation. • Assist with daily setup and takedown. • Other duties as required. PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS • Speed and timeliness of assisting drivers. • Friendly, helpful, and collaborative demeanor when interacting with volunteers, drivers, staff, and others. • Compliance with policies and procedures of the Food Bank and Home-Delivery. • Degree of innovative thinking and collaborative approach to problem solving. QUALIFICATIONS Education/Experience: • One year of successful customer service experience (working and/or volunteer). • Experience using tablets or other similar technology. • Volunteer experience a plus Skills/Abilities: • Excellent communication and customer service skills. • Calm demeanor in a sometimes-stressful environment. • Ability to work and interact well with individuals (staff, volunteers and participants) from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds in a culturally diverse environment. • Familiarity and comfort with tablet technology. • A people-centered mindset. • Ability to work efficiently, independently and as part of a team; to communicate regularly; and meet deadlines. ________________________________________ PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: (The physical and environmental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Finger Dexterity: Requires typing on a tablet Talking: Ability to speak on phone and face to face Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information Repetitive Motions: Occasional and regular movements using wrists, hands, and fingers Standing & Walking: Ability to stand for possibly long periods, walk the same area repeatedly Average Visual Abilities: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to view tablet screens and documents and to see distances clearly (with correction if necessary) Physical Strength: Ability to lift two 25-lb bags simultaneously, push a 30-lb bin. SALARY: starting at $21.15/hour COMMUNICATION AND COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS Reasoning Ability: Ability to weigh competing solutions and judge the most appropriate for given circumstances. Mathematics Ability: Ability to perform simple math skills. Language Ability: Fluency in English. Good writing skills.
