Description

What’s up? My name is Mike and I am a singer/guitarist/bassist/average drummer. I’ll be relocating from Texas late August and unfortunately I am leaving my band behind in Dallas, but more excitingly, I’m looking to start jamming and see what comes from this move. I have tons of material to bring to the table and I love collaborating. My influences are all over the map. I have a deep love of ‘60s psychedelic music, and love vocal harmonies. Right now I am really into Dr. Dog, Floating Action, Michael Nau, Scott McMicken, and a the Australian psych scene. I’d love to change things up to fit the vibe in Florida, and maybe explore some softer, acoustic psych sounds with maybe some island flair and tons of vocal harmony. I’ll be moving into a house, so we can rehearse there, but I do not have a drum kit. I’d love to build out a little home studio in time. I don’t have any mics or anything, which is also inspiring a more stripped back sound. I’m also down to throw down on professional recordings. I love gigging and improvising on stage. I’m down to start small, like a duo, and hit some open mics, and add people to the band as they come. Honestly open to any and all instruments/vocalists. Having a female singer would be dope to give body to the vocal harmonies. Percussionists (bongos, slap boxes, whatever) are welcome - ideal scenario would be having a drummer AND an aux percussionist. Hate to be this guy, but I’d love to keep the age range to 20’s to 30’s. I wish image wasn’t a part of music, but thems the breaks. I want to gig and record and get out there, and it is tough (from personal experience) to be taken seriously as a band when there is a 60 year old in the group. My old band in Dallas has plenty of songs on Spotify, with recordings (that I’m calling demos) of songs that I am taking with me that I wrote, and they won’t be performing anymore. I never really consider a song “done” and love to never play a song the same way twice, especially in regards to live performances (think Grateful Dead). Hope to hear from you!
