Do you have TYPE 2 DIABETES and Gum Disease, or problems with your teeth?? You may qualify if you are: • diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes with an HbA1c level of above 7.5% • between the ages of 35-80 years old • with body mass index (BMI) of 30 and above • not currently smoking and drinking less than 2 alcoholic drinks a day • with or without gum disease, who would need a surgical treatment of gums or teeth before a dental restoration. The study requires a screening visit to determine the status of your gums and teeth. What will happen at the study screening visit? We will: • review your medical and dental history • examine your teeth, gums and mouth • Check your HbA1c status We will check your teeth and gums and see if you qualify for costly gum surgery to address Periodontitis that can be attributed to Diabetes.
