Construction Supervisor & Estimator Do you enjoy building things? Los Angeles based Project Management company is looking for someone versed in commercial office construction, remodeling, and tenant improvement projects. General construction knowledge is a must with a good understanding of current commercial building codes and the overall construction process. Literally a jack of all trades, you will be doing job walk-thrus, quotes and estimates, running a crew, and building with the crew on various projects. Position Summary: Reporting to the Project Manager, you will liaise between clients, staff, jobsite personnel, suppliers, designers, accounting, marketing and sales staff to ensure accuracy of information for job scope requirements. You will prepare budgets, paperwork approvals, process, change orders, and have outstanding communication skills. Primary Responsibilities: (other duties may be assigned) • Collaborate with internal team to provide issues/resolutions summary • Knowledge of California’s prevailing wage laws/trades • Calculate and maintain material take-offs (lumber, finishing material, steel, acrylic, etc.) • Prepare project estimates, conducting cost analysis and complete budget reviews • Maintain current, competitive cost and product information under changing market conditions • Prepare preliminary cost comparisons and specification changes • Prepare new phases and new plans when needed • Authorize matching invoices for payment of all purchased items and contractual agreements • Maintain accurate and up to date files consisting of budgets, purchase orders, change orders, and all misc. paperwork • Ensure change orders and/or extra requests are processed with priority and communicated to all staff, promptly • Resolve site issues/problems • Develop and maintain relationships with specific vendors assigned to each project and monitor vendor performance • Promote a professional business relationship with trades and suppliers • Expand vendor list by speaking with new trades, filing company information and setting up meetings • Be able to lead and supervise your crew • Ensure crew is taking all safety precautions when on job sites • Install multiple types of free-standing furniture, panel and modular systems; this includes placement, leveling, wipe-down, and touch-up of metal and wood furniture at client location • Commercial office construction and TI experience is a must • Follow all safety procedures in the performance to job duties • Daily interaction with customers, co-workers, and warehouse management • Daily required paperwork to be filled out and signed by the end of each working day Basic Qualifications: • Experience in using hand and electrical tools for commercial office remodeling and to assemble furniture • Must have a valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record • Must be at least 18 years of age • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, including working knowledge of e-mail programs • Proven basic computer and smartphone skills • Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form • Excellent customer service skills, conducting client contact in a professional and courteous manner • Must have own hand tools • Must have own transportation to/from job sites • Must have open availability and open to work some weekends and nights Preferred: • 5-7 years’ experience • Experience driving lightweight trucks and bobtail trucks • Available to travel out of town on an as needed basis Physical Demands: Physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work requires physical effort and use of motor skills requiring manual dexterity. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push/pull, or balance weight for extended periods of time. Employee will regularly drive a delivery truck and must be able to enter and exit the truck throughout the day. Activities include using a pallet jack, or other equipment; and lightweight tools to build, assemble, install or repair. Job Type: Full-time Required education: • High school or equivalent Required license or certification: • Valid Driver's License • Specialty Construction License (of a major trade skill) • Must be able to pass background check Compensation • Depending on experience – starting salary $75,000 annually plus benefits
