Description

I still have this guy, we've had a couple failed meet up attempts trying to locate his forever flock. I hate looking at him in the bachelor pad, he's such a good guy he deserves to get his own flock of ladies and dazzle the on lookers with his stunning feathers! Unfortunately I have way too many boys right now and can't keep them all though I really wish I could and my big guy keeps taking after Ferrero, it's not his fault he's so much prettier than the old guy! ;) Ferrero is a blue black splash copper maran who hatched March 15th, he came from Jeff at papa's poultry who specializes in rare breeds and colorings. I have several different breeds from him and all of them are gorgeous birds with amazing temperaments. This breed is known for their dark chocolate eggs, which will make him great for continuing the maran lines or mixing with EE's or blue eggers to get green &/or olive eggers. Ferrero prefers to be on the outside of the flock watching over what is going on, he's very observant and is showing all the signs of being a great protector chasing stray cats and squirrels away. He has found his crow and it's a deep chocolately crow, not high pitched like some of my guys have. He's also done some awkward teenage mating with the ladies when he get's a chance to leave the bachelor pad, so he's a single guy ready to mingle.. He doesn't care for human touch much but he does come running to see what treats I have, he just keeps out of arms reach. He has never been aggressive with us or our other animals, he just prefers to keep to himself. I typically pick him up in the mornings when I open up the coop and carry him around with me while filling waterers and feed dishes, he doesn't fight me and leans in for scratches but the moment I set him down he takes off and shakes off all my human cooties!
