Regenerative Landscape Worker at a Value-led Worker-owned Company SymbiOp is seeking a part-time landscape field worker to join our worker cooperative. This position will be paid at $16-22 per hour depending on experience. We offer health insurance, pay time off, and retirement account after 90 days. SymbiOp’s mission is to create landscapes that are good for the people and the planet. We specialize in regenerative landscapes that reverse climate change, restore habitats/wildlife, produce food, and are low maintenance. Ultimately, we want to transform all urban and rural landscapes into food forests and/or native landscapes. This fall, we are opening a garden retail shop on SE Powell to add to our operation. SymbiOp became a worker cooperative at the beginning of 2020 and has been growing steadily ever since. We are proud to say we have a work culture that is the opposite of a corporate job. Feel free to read more about us on website - SymbiOp.com The candidate must have: • Be physically fit to do 30 hours of hard labor per week (moving dirt, mulch, rock, pavers, etc) • Ability to lift 50lbs safely and regularly • Comfortable driving a pickup truck filled with tools or debris • Be able to designate 3 days open for work per week. And notify the coordinator when your schedule changes. A work day is rarely more than 7 hours. • Attention to details. Customer centric. Team player. • Proactive communication. Effective organization. • Eagerness to learn new things • Commitment to 2 years of working with us • Share our passion, mission, and values • We don’t care if you don't have a degree • You must attend mandatory monthly all staff meetings. Attending weekly operational meetings are optional but encouraged. All meetings and training are paid at $15 per hour for everyone. Good to have but not required: • Professional landscaping experience • Knowledge of proper planting and pruning techniques • Knowledge in plants that can be used in native landscapes and/or food forests • Understanding of regenerative, ecological, permaculture practices • Experience in installing hardscapes • Experience operating landscaping equipments (string trimmer, hedge trimmer, leaf blower, etc) • Experience in wood-working • Skills in cooperative participation such as group decision process, conflict resolution, facilitation, non-violent communication, etc • Retail experience, especially in garden shops. A bit more about our company: • SymbiOp is a worker-owned company lead by people of color, indigenous people, women, queer people, and people with disabilities. • Any worker can become a member (owner) after going through membership training and logging at least 1200 hours with us (about 30 hours per week for 9 months). We encourage workers to work towards becoming members but we don’t require it, because members have additional responsibilities (and perks).
