Looking for a deceased friend's last name

I'm looking for the last name for my friend, Ryan (former resident of Elkhart) who was killed by a drunk driver in Los Angeles in fall 1994 while attending University of Southern California. Ryan was an avid roller blader and fan of Metallica. I know that is not much to go. Do you have any suggestions on how to find his last name and/or an obituary?
