Our staff are highly trained to give residents care at every level. PURPOSE OF YOUR POSITION: The primary purpose of your position is to perform the day-to-day activities of the Laundry Department, in accordance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility and as may be directed by the Supervisor/Administrator, to assure that the laundry department is maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary manner. SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS: The ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such actions. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public. Must be knowledgeable of laundry practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing laundry functions in the long-term care facility. Must possess a willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non-professional personnel. Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of laundry areas, must perform regular inspections of laundry areas for sanitation, order, and safety. Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning. Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing laundry practices. Must be able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition/incident. Must be able to push, pull or lift, all without restrictions up to 51 lbs. Moving various equipment up to about 75 pounds may be required, but rarely; however, it is accomplished WITH equipment designed for that purpose. EXPERIENCE: A minimum of one (1) year experience in laundry operations preferred. We are an equal opportunity employer that values diversity at all levels.
