Why would Kevin McCarthy try to put Jim Jordan, the best friend of the possible leader of the insurrection, on a panel whose job it is to seek answers? Seeking answers about his best friend is not Jim Jordan's forte, so to speak. If Kevin hadn't quit, then he should have been fired for being stupid and trying to stack the deck. Just what is it they know that they refuse to share is my question. qqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqnot But Pelosi, who reserved the right to veto McCarthy’s nominees, said she rejected Jordan and Banks because she believed they jeopardized the "integrity of the investigation." Cheney backed the Speakers decision and accused McCarthy of politicizing the investigation.  "At every opportunity, the minority leader has attempted to prevent the American people from understanding what happened to block this investigation," she sa @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ Reunited: Jordan and Trump Jun 23, 2021 6:00 AM WELLINGTON — The ex-president and the congressman who slavishly promoted him through two impeachments in less than two years will be back together again in Ohio on Saturday. "Mr. Jordan will absolutely be at the rally this weekend," a spokesman for U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan said Tuesday. In an email to the Register late Tuesday, Russell Dye, Jordan's communications director and counsel, complained that a Register news story reported that Jordan "won't say" whether he would attend the rally, which is the first one since Trump left the White House. It is scheduled at the Lorain County Fairgrounds in Wellington. Jordan does not respond to questions from the local media. He refuses to provide his direct contact information, preferring to let Dye handle local media inquiries. Dye, when he does respond, doesn't answer questions but occasionally provides statements on behalf of Jordan that usually are non-responsive. Dye hadn't responded to the questions the Register sent to him 17 hours earlier on Tuesday asking about Jordan's schedule for the weekend, and about his continuing support for the former president and the "big lie" that Trump won the 2020 presidential election. Both Jordan and Dye continue to refuse to answer questions about the extent of their involvement, if any, in the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol and whether they provided leaders of the militias attempting to overthrow the government scouting tours of the Capitol prior to Jan. 6. They both also declined to say if they have been interviewed by FBI agents investigating the insurrection, or if they have had contact with the white racist militia groups since the insurrection. Jordan, who last month voted against an independent commission to investigate the Jan. 6 insurrection, also refuses to answer questions about whether he's concerned Saturday's rally might lead to violence. Trump held a rally on Jan. 6 just prior to the insurrection. The mob that breached security at the U.S. Capitol beat police officers with flags, flag poles and other weapons during the insurrection. They were hunting for Vice President Mike Pence and Speaker Nancy Pelosi, hoping to kill them. Five people were killed during, or died later, as a result of trauma from the violence. An estimated 140 were injured, according to news reports. Hundreds of people have since been arrested and some attorneys hired by some of the defendants have said their clients were following orders from the president to attack the Capitol. It's not known if Trump, and Jordan, who is likely to be on the stage with the disgraced president, will tone down the rhetoric to avoid a repeat of the violence when they gather this Saturday. It is clear, however, that Trump will be on the attack. He is targeting U.S. Rep. Anthony Gonzalez, R-Rocky River, for voting in January in favor of impeachment. The rally venue — the Lorain County Fairgrounds — is in close proximity to Gonzalez's 16th District. Jordan refused to say if he would join Trump in any rhetorical attack on Gonzalez, or say if it's appropriate to be attacking a fellow Republican for casting an opposing vote. He's been a willing participant with Trump in lying about the 2020 presidential election, however, including making false and unsubstantiated claims of election fraud, rigged elections and telling other lies. Some Republicans also are pretending the insurrection did not happen, saying Trump's supporters were friendly during the riot, or that actors pretending to be Trump supporters were the ones who rioted, all based on outlandish lies picked up at conspiracy websites and from false news organizations. Jordan refused to address questions about that, also.
