Our farm produces premium California rice varieties and permanent tree crops including almonds, pecans, and walnuts. JOB TITLE: Rice Dryer and Irrigator Shift: Full-Time/Seasonal Shifts Key Responsibilities: The rice dryer works with harvester to bring the rice in from the field during harvest, filling the dryer with rice and monitoring rice moisture levels during drying time. Monitoring and maintenance of the dryer to defer breakdowns as well as, meeting rice drying schedules. The irrigator part of the position is to monitor and maintain water levels in the rice fields, to maintain the irrigation infrastructure and the annual installation and removal of dams. Dryer: • Inspects rice during drying and monitors moisture • Performs routine maintenance for dryer • Follow instructions written and/or verbal. • Must follow all the safety procedures, environmental guidelines and company rules and regulations while working in the dryer. • Document and troubleshoot any machinery issues as required (ability to replace bearings, belts and electric components is a plus) • Keep equipment operational by completing preventative maintenance procedures. • Cleans dryer daily, and cleans rice bins per management instruction • Work at heights up to 80’ which are accessed via a series of ladders and/or a manlift • Loads trucks with stored rice for shipping Irrigator: • Monitors and maintains water levels in rice fields per instructions from Irrigation Manager and Production Manager • Ability to operate a backhoe • Installation of diversion dams in the Spring and removal in the Fall annually • Use weed eater and roundup to keep weeds out of rice boxes Non-Essential Responsibilities: • Other duties as assigned by management QUALIFICATIONS: • High School Diploma a plus • Self-motivated and work with minimal supervision. • Strong teamwork skills • Previous experience in harvesting/drying rice a plus • Must be organized and know how to maintain equipment. • Need to have excellent manual dexterity and should be able to work with small, detailed objects.
