Satchel Construction LLC is a commercial General Contracting company based in South Carolina with our headquarters in Charleston, SC and a division in Greenville,SC. We are a dynamic, technology driven company that is growing! We are looking for a “jack-of-all-trades” who can join our self-performing team to complete in-house activities on our active projects. Carpenter Helper will manage the warehouse, inventory of tools and material, transport materials, as well as assist with in-house job site activities such as selective demolition, rough carpentry, finish carpentry, drywall/paint, concrete, etc. Responsibilities: • Perform and assist with in-house jobsite activities • Ensures that company standards of cleanliness are met in the warehouse at all times. • Assists in cleaning/removing larger debris on a timely basis • Ensures that the safe handling and storage of chemicals and cleaners used in performing duties follows safety standards. • Perform minor fixes such as repairing broken roll-up doors, replacing outdoor light fixtures, troubleshooting gates, etc. • Conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, changing HVAC filters, painting, pressure washing, etc. • Keeps excellent records and communicates any maintenance items to supervisors • Monitoring and resolving security issues. • Has the ability to safely load and unload products according to size of load and content description • Ability to drive equipment and vehicle safely and efficiently in accordance with all company safety standards. • Transport job site materials to and from job sites as needed. • Report any known equipment issues to management immediately and schedule any necessary repairs/maintenance that cannot be self-performed. • Ability to interact with vendors and other employees and to relay technical concerns with accurate detail, verbally and through email. • High degree of initiative and independent judgment. • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. • Performs other duties as assigned; works with minimum supervision; operates effectively within a team. Qualifications: • General commercial construction knowledge • Ability to work with tools and properly care for them • Ability to juggle multiple knowledge disciplines at the same time • 2 to 3 years of maintenance/handyman experience • Clean driving record and background check Physical Demands: This job regularly requires employees to work while using hands; gripping fingers and hands. The employee is frequently required to sit; walk or stand; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; and bend at waist. The employee is occasionally required to climb unassisted while carrying up to 40 pounds; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is frequently required to lift and/or move up to 65 pounds unassisted; push or pull 200+ pounds with appropriate moving and safety equipment. This job requires employees to be outdoors more than half the day and should be physically able to withstand seasonal weather including extreme heat/cold and rain.
