Description
With hermit crab sales increasing this summer i would like to offer my home to hermit crabs people can no longer care for.
There is a common misconception that mesh hermit crab habitats are adequate housing for crabs and small travel carriers. This is absolutely false, hermit crabs need sealed tropical enclosures at least 10 gallons per crab, 80% high humidity and 80f in temperature.
Open air enclosures will become lethal to hermit crabs by drying out their bodies forcing them to die.
Hermit crabs need at least 6 inches of eco earth/play sand mix, hermit crabs should not eat commercially available pellets as these are toxic. Painted shells are toxic as hermit crabs will occasionally eat small bits of their shells. Hermit crabs thrive on fresh vegetables, proteins and herbs, seeds and oils. Hermit crabs can live up to 40 years old!!!
