Therapeutic Recreation Worker Full Time (5 days a week). 8:30 am – 4:40 pm. Must work every other weekend. Job Duties • Assists in the development, coordination and a wide range of activities for residents to improve functioning, enhances self esteem, creativity and expression, and provide comfort, reassurance. • Plans and implements a wide range of daily Therapeutic Activities (i.e. cognitive stim, gardening, baking, Reminiscence, Travelogue, Trivia, slide show etc.) to promote socialization, enhance self-esteem • Monitors the resident's progress and revise the resident's care plan as necessary • Transports residents to activities as necessary • Assists Department with Special Events Job Requirements • Bachelors Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, and/or 2 years experience working with the geriatric population. Art, Music, Dance Therapy or related field • Able to push, pull, move, and or lift a minimum of 30 pounds to a minimum of 4 feet or carry 20 lbs. a minimum of 2 feet. • The ability to deal effectively and professionally with residents, visitors or family members • Bilingual English/Russian a plus but not required.
