Please help

My car has died, I replaced the battery, and it's still dead... it's probably the alternator. I'm on a fixed income, and I have numerous doctors appointments to make, not only for myself, but for my son as well. The cost for the alternator part and labor is $320.00. I need my vehicle now more than ever, because I have copies to make for an upcoming event. If you're able to help, in anyway, I'd greatly appreciate it.
