Build a Railing/Fence for our steps

We live in a 1908 craftsman house near Macarthur BART. We would like to build new wooden railings for our exterior front and back steps. I'm attaching pictures of our front steps, plus some references of the wooden fence + wire mesh style that we'd like to see.
