Bass Player Looking to Start an Original Band

I'm a 36-year-old bass player in Montgomery County and I'm looking to start an original band. I have 8 songs of my own and would love to collaborate with others on them and originals that other band members may have. My original stuff is kind of a heavy alt-rock style, like the Smashing Pumpkins, with a bluesy twist. I'm always messing around with bass lines too that could be worked into songs. My ideal band would consist of guitar, bass, drums, a female lead singer and possibly keys, but I'm not married to that idea at all. I'm pretty easy going and I like to allow things to develop as they will rather than force things, even if that doesn't match my original plan. My philosophy is to do things differently from others. I've seen many talented local bands and forgotten about them the next day. I've also seen local bands that were unique and distinguished themselves from the thousands of others that are out there. I want to be more like the latter. I would like to record and play gigs and see where things go from there. I also want to add covers as well. My influences are very broad and include Sublime, Black Sabbath, the Smashing Pumpkins, the Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd and the Pixies among many others.
