OCTDS announces that after 1.5 years of being shutdown due to the COVID pandemic, that it resumes dancing! “Bringing Music & Dance … BACK … to Life”. On Saturday, August 28th 2021 OCTDS will be holding its 30th Anniversary Festival. Celebrating both the return to dancing & music and the founding anniversary of the nonprofit group. A nearly daylong party with 2 dance sessions and catered dinners. OCTDS brings you the great music of the northern Michigan contra band, "The Johns", featuring Ruby John on fiddle, John Warstler on Guitar, and Budd Greenman on Fiddle, Mandolin, Tenor Banjo, and Cajon. This fantastic group is joined by the awesome leadership of that great Ohio Caller, Darlene Underwood. A terrific day for the entire community, new & experienced, young and old. Family friendly. We dance in an Air-Conditioned Hall with a Wood Floor. Drinks and snacks are provided. Always Live Music by talented musicians. All dances are taught and easy to learn. No partners or experience are necessary. Social community fun! Everybody is welcome! Location: First United Methodist Church of Troy, 6363 Livernois Rd., Troy, MI 48098 (Between Square Lake Rd. and South Blvd. – easy access from I-75 or M-59) Times: Refresher Walk thrus (Instructions); 1pm and 7pm. Dance Sessions; Afternoon 1:30-4:30pm, Evening; 7:30pm-10:30pm. Dinner period (Dinner, Honors, Remembrances); 4:30pm-7pm Admissions: Dinner selections range from $14-$23 per plate. Advanced registration (deadline 8/21/21) is required for food orders. Afternoon Dance Session $15/person before 7/31/21. $20/person thereafter. Evening Dance Session $20/person before 7/31/21. $25/person thereafter. Attending both Dance Sessions $30/person before 7/31/21. $40/person thereafter. Children who are ages 12 and under – get in FREE! Full COVID Vaccinations Required of all attendees! FACILITY, CDC & MICHIGAN COVID-19 SAFEGUARD REQUIREMENTS. Will be followed. The well-being of attending members and families is of utmost importance to us. OCTDS is requiring all eligible participants to have received vaccinations and to be able to provide proof of full COVID vaccinations prior to being allowed admittance.
