JOB TITLE: DEPARTMENT: REPORTS TO: Housekeeping Manager Laundry Attendant (Full-Time) ESSENTIAL PURPOSE: To ensure a continuous supply of clean, high quality linens to the hotel. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: • To communicate all guest requests to an appropriate supervisor in a timely and professional manner. • To follow all specified procedures to satisfactorily perform routine laundry handling tasks as directed, including sorting and folding linens and terries; loading, unloading, and operating washers and dryers. • To check laundry room chemicals daily, and notify supervisor when drum levels fall to half full. • To maintain cleanliness and working order of all laundry room equipment, and promptly report any deficiencies. • To assist, as directed, in other linen handling tasks, including culling, taking inventory, and recycling or disposal of outworn items. • To clean lint traps in washers and dryers at least every two hours. • To provide telephone support to the housekeeping office, as requested. • To follow all policies and procedures of Country Inn & Suites. • To immediately report all suspicious occurrences and hazardous conditions. • To maintain the cleanliness and safety of work areas at all times. • To practice safe work habits at all times, to avoid injury to self and others, including compliance with company and departmental safety rules and regulations and the proper use and handling of all relevant equipment. • To handle, store, and label all hazardous substances according to state and federal regulations. • To attend all mandatory meetings as directed. • To perform other tasks, including cross-training, as directed. JOB KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATIONAL LEVEL: Able to speak, read, and write basic English, and to follow simple verbal and written instructions. Able to read and understand chemical labels. Previous hotel experience preferred. SKILLS AND APTITUDES: Detail oriented. Organized and efficient. Safety-minded. High quality standards for production and service. Courteous and friendly manner. Good team player. Customer service focus. Able to work productively with little supervision. Trustworthy and reliable. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works indoors throughout shift. Bi-level structures. Laundry room may be hot, moist, and noisy from operating machines. Cement surface. Well-lighted. Minimal exposure to hazardous substances and fumes. Possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Stands and walks short to moderate distances throughout shift. Bends, stoops, and reaches to perform routine job tasks. Minimal use of stairs, daily. IMPACT OF DECISION: Decisions directly impact the hotel's ability to provide guests with attractive, clean, and hygienic terries and linens. Poor decisions may result in guest dissatisfaction and loss of revenues, due to insufficient inventory, inefficient or improper work, unsafe work practices, or improperly handled customer service situations. GENERAL: Must comply with the Company's Appearance and Dress Code policy as set forth in the Employee Handbook. JOB CLASSIFICATION: The position is classified as Full-Time and, upon completion of the Introductory Period, the employee is eligible for the Employee Benefits outlined in the Employee Handbook. NON-EXEMPT POSITION: Non-exempt employees are subject to the wage and hour laws and entitled to overtime pay. All overtime work by a non-exempt employee must be approved in advance by the employee's supervisor or the General Manager and the time initialed by him/her on the time card. Non-exempt employees who work overtime without prior approval are subject to disciplinary action, including termination.
