Manage, develop and lead HVAC service staff by recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, and reviewing the performance of all staff employees. Manage customer relationship development and satisfaction. Work with team to provide technical support, resolve issues, and provide HVAC product maintenance. Provide planning and management in safe and efficient servicing of HVAC equipment, components and systems in commercial /industrial/Pharma/and institutional settings. Utilize human resources effectively to manage workload, achieve production and margin objectives while providing complete HVAC services to customers. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Manage and develop the service staff, which includes hiring, terminating and disciplining of employees, scheduling employees, setting work priorities, conducting staff meetings, counseling employees, evaluating performance and directing work assignments to ensure effective production. Evaluates work load and schedule service work in a way that best utilizes manpower and maximizes profits. Resolve customer issues and complaints to ensure customer satisfaction. Create and manage budgets. Ensure that material and equipment are ordered and dispensed for scheduled jobs. Schedule repairs for parts and tools to ensure minimal down-time in job completion. Generate reports and measures of departmental operations as well as maintaining records on all inventory, tools and vehicles in coordination with warehouse manager. Review reports with the owner. Review payroll records to ensure that technicians are paid properly in a quarterly bases. May conduct job site surveys when see necessary. Evaluate staff to determine training requirements. Provide on-the-job training and support to employees. Oversee facility and equipment maintenance, ensuring that assets are protected. Additional Scope: Set and monitors goals for customer account gross margin delivery and profitability, including Planned Services Agreements and Labor & Material (L&M) work. Drive L&M growth through Technicians and Team Leads. Provide input to the area business plan. Lead the execution efforts of assigned service business. Ensure consistency of delivery systems through supervision and audits of Technicians, Customer Service Agent, and Customer Service Agent Assistant in the delivery of quality service to customers. Approve all L&M quotations from above assigned threshold. (final approval by owner) Responsible for service response to warranty-related customer issues. Manage the assigned customer relationships and derive issue resolution. Manage team budget and overhead. Maintain proper staffing levels for the team, through labor forecasting, planning, and management. Approve time sheets for direct reports and perform all other necessary management tasks related bookings, Accounts Payables and Accounts Receivable. (Coordinate this task to be done with accounting staff). Responsible for safety performance and program compliance. Recruit, hire, and retain Technicians. Ensure warranty work is billed and managed appropriately. Work with direct reports and Team Technical Leads to create effective development plans and track training performance. Prepare and deliver clear performance expectations and performance reviews for direct reports. Continually network within the industry. Qualifications Required: Must have strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with clients. Must have the ability to simultaneously handle a large and diverse number of projects, tasks and issues with tact, cooperation, and persistence. Ability to prioritize work activities based upon financial impact to desired business goals Diploma in electronic or mechanical systems, or equivalent plus seven years of experience in the HVAC and/or building controls systems. Work requires one or two years of prior experience in directing or leading the work of others. Must have the ability to interact effectively with employees and customers in difficult situations. Possesses basic accounting and business principles. Able to lead and direct diverse teams. Ensure safety and continual safety training within the department; report all safety issues/accidents immediately to the human resources director; work with senior leadership to ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory guidelines for workplace safety, as well as refrigerant handling. Demonstrated competence in written and verbal communication skills. Able to positively represent company and communicate with others at varying technical levels. Able to use service management software and financial accounting systems. (Timberline/Sage Software). Training is available if not familiar with this particular software. Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, and basic Windows environment. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline preferred. High School diploma or general education degree (GED) a must. Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in HVAC service. Working knowledge of gas piping, electricity, plumbing, refrigeration cycle, HVAC piping, HVAC equipment and air flow are requirement. Valid driver’s license is required. Must possess a working knowledge of local codes, safety procedures, and general industry standards. Strong supervisory, communications, organization, computer and mathematical skills are required.
