Description

PLAN4SUCCESS Scholarship breakfast was established in 2016. On July 31, 2021, we will honor 33 scholars. The Edna Lee Stewart 6th Annual Scholarship Breakfast has been established in honor of our Executive Director's Aunt Edna of Edna's Restaurant.  Edna's Restaurant was in existence for 44 years.  During this time the restaurant was a pillar within the westside community and worldwide.   Edna's Restaurant had the priviledge of serving Martin Luther King Jr. and several people in the Civil Rights Movement as well as two sitting Presidents. Politicians, Oprah Winfrey Studios, and people across the Chicagoland area and the nation have visited her venue during her 44 years of service.   On Saturday, July 31, 2021, we are hosting our breakfast gala honoring college students to let them know everyone from the PLAN4SUCCESS family is cheering for their future success.  Consider making a $20 donation for a ticket to our event for yourself and family or donate a ticket for one of our scholarship recipients to attend.  To make a general donation, visit www.PLAN-4Success.org   Greetings, PLAN4Success Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We provide educational, social and cultural experiences for teens in the Chicagoland area. As we celebrate our 5th year anniversary, we reflect on the over 500 youths serviced, from over 100 schools and 52 college scholarships awarded.  We also hosts an annual Teen Leadership conference in the Spring and workshops throughout the year.  The Edna Lee Stewart Scholarship Fund was established in honor of our Executive Director, Nicole Brooken's Aunt Edna formally of Edna's Restaurant, to assist students with monies for 4-year and 2- year college and vocational schools.  Additionally, we have other non-profits in our "Community Network" to allow kids, parents and donors to funnel resources more effectively.  Nicole Brookens is the founder and Executive Director of PLAN4Success and youth advocate.  She has had a passion for helping kids her entire life.   Nickie honed her organizational management skills serving her peers at Northern Illinois University while attaining a B. A. in Public Administration.  For over 20 years, she has worked with programming and partnerships for youth on all socio-economic levels primarily in North Lawndale, Homewood-Flossmoor, and within the University of Chicago Laboratory schools.  She also received awards for her service to the community from University of Chicago Laboratory Schools, Bronzeville Children's Museum, and Just Us Sistahs Talking.   Nickie could not do this alone and really appreciates her partners. The board of directors include: Katari Coleman, Janie Davis, Monica Gordon, Latisha Howze, Kea Rivera and Natalie Williams.  PLAN4Success relies on support from volunteers, fundraisers, matching corporate programs and private donations.  Feel free to check out our website and get involved @www.PLAN-4Success.org Email:[email protected]
