Description
We are seeking to re-home a 4 year old female red husky. She had been used as a PTSD and autism assistance animal, but when working in public she gets too excited to respond reliably and this could not be trained out of her. She’d rather make friends and people/dog watch. With her extensive training and good manners she may make a great ESA for someone, and would definitely make a great pet.A lot of time and money have gone into her training and her $500 rehoming fee is extremely modest in comparison. The fee will be going directly toward a new service dog prospect. She will come with all her gear and supplies including food, kennel, grooming items, etc.She is goofy, submissive, and wants to always be with humans. She lives with cats and a bunny, and has picked up their mannerisms somewhat. She is almost completely silent (VERY unusual for a husky) and watchful of her handler. She has been owner-trained as well as taking group classes. She knows several commands including sit, down, up, stay, free, come, go, wait, leave it, take it, place, bed, under, back, touch, focus, paw (shake), potty, load up, and “right here” (“velcro” to handler’s leg and focus; it’s a check-in task). She has been trained for good behavior with doors, stairs, elevators, tables (go under and tuck out of sight), vehicle loading/unloading, sidewalk crossing. She has experience with various types of harness, socks and boots. She is crate trained and likes her crate, but sleeps in her own bed next to mine. She will need to be an indoor companion; she cannot handle being outdoors for long periods. She overheats easily, even when she was slimmer. She hates rain…she will hold her bathroom needs for hours rather than go outside in inclement weather. She has the typical husky coat (please know about husky care before adopting one, this is a daily upkeep or you’ll have a fur coat all over your floors). We feed her Zesty Paws salmon oil and Missing Link supplement to help keep it shiny. She gets a greenie in the morning, Instinct Raw frozen kibble mid-day, and a premium dry kibble for dinner. Covid quarantine and health issues have restricted our movements so she hasn’t gotten as much exercise as she needs and is currently considered “pet weight” at 65 pounds. She will happily run herself into the ground if you take her walking or jogging so you will have to be mindful of easing her into activities gently and gradually increasing her tolerance of it. This is reposted as I was not receiving emails before.
