From Your Mat to Your Memoir: An introduction to Yogic Writing with Rebecca Gold. Thursday, September 23,2021 6:00-8:00pm Love Living Holistic Sanctuary 1048 E Main Rd, Portsmouth, RI 02871 Born to Rise™ Presents: From Your Mat to Your Memoir. A pre-festival workshop for your chance to share YOUR story at this year's Born to Rise™ Women's Story Festival. Have you dreamed about writing a memoir, but don’t know how to begin? Or maybe you want to write a collection of life stories to leave as a legacy for your children, grandchildren, and others. Perhaps you’ve tried to write your stories, but come up against blocks and resistance when they are painful to explore Through yogic disciplines like movement, breath control, meditation, and working with the koshas you will discover how to tap into your subconscious, unleash creativity and find story nuggets buried within. Learn how to create and sustain a daily Yogic Writing practice to turn those hidden nuggets into life stories, personal essays, or chapters of your memoir. For writers of all levels, and those who want to write but feel stuck, learn how to: • Access inspiration rather than wait for a muse • Tap into your subconscious to explore memory and generate new work • Practice a simple yoga sequence to open your body to find stories hidden within • Improve your focus and discipline • Take the first steps to writing your life stories This workshop includes a gentle yoga practice, meditation, and juicy writing prompts. The stories that evolve from this workshop will be shared (optionally) at the Born to Rise festival on October 2, 2021. Kim Fuller is a photographer, author, Tedex speaker, Buddhist and mindfulness coach. She is the mother of two birth children and one adopted son who she writes about in her book “Finding, the story of a young boy who became his adoptive mother’s greatest spiritual teacher.” After meeting the Dalai Lama and starting her Buddhist and meditation practice fourteen years ago, she developed a mindfulness method called P.A.U.S.E. that she teaches in workshops, retreats and with private coaching clients, to show them how to create peace and possibility in relationship with self and others. She also takes her mindfulness skills into her photography sessions working with heart-centered entrepreneurs to help them authentically express themselves, attract their ideal clients and get photos that up-level their brand.
