Description
The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine building and grounds maintenance tasks. Performance of maintenance tasks in one or more fields (e.g. carpentry, electrical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, etc.). Support campus operations and events. Performs general cleaning and other tasks as assigned. This is a full-time, nonexempt hourly position, reporting to the Facilities Manager. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but are not limited to, the following): * Assume responsibility to ensure campus can open each day and function properly * Assist in keeping entire campus including all buildings, grounds, and undeveloped land well maintained and in good working order. * Accomplish routine campus, vehicle, and equipment maintenance and/or repairs * Help assure campus safety and security * Assure that facilities are properly prepared (and returned to original condition) for events with minimal disruption to school * Maintain facilities ticketing system * Respond to emergent facilities needs and requests from faculty, staff, and parents * Maintain janitorial and building maintenance supplies and inventory * Interface with outside vendors to accomplish specialized repairs and/or maintenance is completed to specifications * Interface with outside authorities regarding compliance with applicable regulations * Maintain highest level of service for all stakeholders consistent with school policy PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS May be exposed to constant activity that requires intermittent standing, bending, crouching, pushing/pulling, lifting/moving/carrying (light to heavy weight material/appliances/equipment – 50 lbs. or more), climbing ladders/stairs, and walking on rooftops Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate small-motorized equipment (i.e., repetitive hand/wrist, gripping, and elbow motion) Must have normal range of hearing, vision, color discrimination, and depth perception for proper operation of machines and equipment Requires the use of appropriate safety equipment (e.g., goggles, masks, gloves, etc.) Ability to work in extreme temperatures and inclement weather conditions Working in high noise levels requiring hearing protection Working around lubricants, solvents, batteries, cleaning fluids, paints, etc. JOB QUALIFICATIONS * Successfully pass DOJ fingerprinting / background screening * Customer-focused attitude in dealing with a variety of stakeholders and constituents * Must be neat in appearance, dependable, and possess a positive attitude * Ability to prioritize, manage time, and multi-task * Must be organized and detail oriented * Ability to work with minimal supervision, be self-motivated * 5 + years of experience in facilities maintenance * Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry * Basic knowledge of safely operating small tools and machinery * High school diploma or equivalent, preferred * Experience working in a school setting is highly desirable * Experience using email and online search engines a plus * Ability to read and write English; speak English and understand spoken English * Valid driver license, automobile insurance, and clean driving record Position is full-time, year-round on weekdays and includes benefits (medical, dental, vision, 403b, and paid holidays) A cover letter describing your interest in the position is highly desirable.
