Students, Staff Get COVID-19 Vaccine Set At Freeport H.S. Event

FREEPORT, NY — While the amount of people getting vaccinated is slowing across Long Island, Mount Sinai South Nassau brought its COVID-19 Vaxmobile to Freeport Public Schools. Students ages 12 and up were eligible, along with school employees and community members. "Throughout this pandemic, our highest priority has always been the health and safety of our students, staff and community," Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kishore Kuncham said in a statement. "By bringing the Vaxmobile to Freeport High School, within walking distance for many families in our community, it provided easy access to this vitally important vaccine to all those eligible to receive it." People were able to receive either the first or second dose of the vaccine for free at Freeport High School on July 15. "This is a wonderful partnership between Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital and the Freeport Public Schools that brings the best in medical care to the Freeport community," Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital Chairman of Medicine and Chief of Infectious Diseases Dr. Aaron Glatt said in a statement. "Our goal is to keep everyone out of the hospital."
