KING COUNTY, WA — Detectives are searching for the driver that hit and killed a 53-year-old man in the Maple Valley area on Sunday morning, according to the King County Sheriff's Office. Investigators with the sheriff's Major Accident Response and Reconstruction unit hope someone in the community saw something that could help. Shortly before 11 a.m. Sunday, deputies responded to the 23800 block of SE 216th St., between Maple Valley and Hobart, and found the man's body near the roadside. Investigators learned the victim was an "avid runner" and said he was hit near the end of his 15-mile route. "A preliminary investigation indicates he was likely hit by a vehicle that fled the scene leaving little evidence behind," investigators wrote Monday. "This is a tragic case that cost a Maple Valley family their beloved husband, father and son." Anyone with information that could help in the case can contact the non-emergency line at 206-296-3311 and reference case "C21022337." Anonymous tips may also be submitted via Crime Stoppers online.
