Salty Spines presents Summer Series Miami Lionfish Derby sponsored by Stream2Sea, Tarpoon Lagoon Dive Center, Deco Divers & CYM Media Join us for a summer long series of Lionfish Derbies to safely remove invasive Lionfish from our gorgeous Miami waters! The derbies will take place in the Miami Beach Marina, right in the heart of South Beach. This is an individual entrants derby all participating on the Big Com-Ocean, Deco Divers boat. Divers will be placed in smaller groups to be dropped on different parts of reefs & wreck treks. Divers should be comfortable drift dives. Open Water Certification or higher required. The entrance fee includes, two air tanks, weights, and derby entrance fee. Extras can be added on such as Nitrox tanks, rental gear, and a certified Lionfish Containment Diver Guide. 12:00PM: Check-in @ Tarpoon Lagoon Dive Center, 300 Alton Road, Miami Beach, FL 33130 1:00PM - 5:00PM Drifting wreck treks & reefs to slay them all! There will be cash prizes for the Smallest and Largest Lionfish caught for the day (this includes the AM & PM charter). $250 for each. Diver or not, stick around for Lionfish tastings, raffles prizes, demonstrations & more! Proceeds from Salty Spines Summer Series Lionfish Derbies will be donated to support local area charities that support education, exploration, and conservation of the local marine environment.
