AUSTIN, TX — A man is dead after a fatal shooting early Saturday in downtown Austin, officials said.
Police received a 911 call before 3 a.m. after a caller reported seeing an altercation on the 600 block of Neches Street moments before gun shots fired, authorities told reporters Saturday in a news conference.
When officers arrived, they found a man with a severe chest wound in an alleyway between Neches and Red River Streets. The man was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition but he later died from his injuries.
Authorities said the Austin Police Department's Homicide Detectives are investigating this incident. At this time, police do not have any suspects nor is a person in custody.
Police said they are relying on HALO cameras to identify the suspected gunman where the alleyway shooting incident took place.
