MILL VALLEY, CA — A fictitious dispute between a small African village and Big Oil will come to life this week in Mill Valley.
Celebrated author Imbolo Mbue's "How Beautiful We Are" will be the subject of the Mill Valley Public Library's World Literature Book Club meeting Tuesday.
Mbue's second novel highlights the disastrous environmental impacts an oil company has had on the fictional village of Kosawa and the villagers' efforts to fight back.
The story is told from the perspective of children, highlighting the plight of a girl named Thula who goes on to become a revolutionary.
The event will be held virtually Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
