BOLINGBROOK, IL — A 44-year-old Bolingbrook man was tased by police officers after he continually resisted arrest Friday afternoon, police said. Kenneth Leaks, of the 300 block of Lakeside Drive, was driving down Fernwood Drive north of Lily Cache Lane around 4:47 p.m. when he was pulled over for a moving violation. Throughout the interaction, police said he refused to show his driver's license or identify himself. He was also asked several times to step out of his car but refused. According to police, Leaks continued to resist after officers told him he was under arrest, and police said the officers tased him to "bring the situation under control without further physical confrontation." He was charged with obstructing a peace officer and issued several traffic citations. Police said he also had an outstanding in-state warrant. Leaks was treated at the scene by paramedics from the Bolingbrook Fire Department and transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Afterward, he was taken to the DuPage County Correctional Facility. (For more news and information like this, subscribe to the Bolingbrook Patch for free.
