2 Dead, Tucson Fire Captain Injured In South Side Shooting

TUCSON, AZ — Two people are dead, and a Tucson Fire Department captain and two emergency medical technicians were among four people injured in a shooting during a house fire on Tucson's south side Sunday afternoon, Tucson police said. Firefighters found two bodies after putting out the house fire: one inside the house and another outside it, police said. Neither person was identified. The captain, whom police did not identify, was shot in the 2100 block of East Irene Vista while responding to a medical call at Quincie Douglas Park that was unrelated to the shooting or the house fire, according to police. He suffered minor injuries to his arm. The two EMTs were also shot while responding to the medical emergency. One EMT is in critical condition, and another was in stable condition. A neighbor suffered minor injuries, police said. None was identified. The unidentified. shooter was also critically injured after a police officer shot him, police said. The shooter had flagged down fire department personnel as they arrived at the park and pointed to a house fire at the East Irene Vista house before opening fire on them, police said.
