PHOENIX, AZ — A trio of Phoenix residents are on the ground in Tokyo, preparing for the start of the Olympics.
The games, which kick off with Friday's opening ceremony, run through Aug. 8 in Japan's capital city.
The three Phoenicians will represent the U.S. Olympic Team at the games, competing in archery, cycling and beach volleyball.
The trio are among the 621 members of the country's Olympic team at the Tokyo games.
The three Phoenix residents that will compete with the U.S. team are archer Eric Bennett, cyclist Brandon McNutty and beach volleyball player Sarah Sponcil.

Those that want to watch the three can do so at varying points during the games, with archery events running from Thursday through July 31; while McNutty's cycling race runs from Friday through next Wednesday.
For Sponcil, the Olympic beach volleyball tournament will have its preliminary rounds between Friday and July 30, with medal matches running from July 31 through Aug. 6.
