Description

HOOVER, AL —Hoover police say a grenade found in a truck during a traffic stop Saturday has been examined and is not a real explosive device. The traffic stop was made just after 3 p.m. in the parking lot of the Econo Lodge on U.S. 31. The driver of the truck was taken into custody during the investigation. Officer Brian Hale of the Hoover Police Department said Monday that the examination of the grenade showed it was not a live grenade. "Further investigation revealed that the handmade device did not contain any explosive materials, and was a hoax device," Hale said. "Working in conjunction with the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office, no charges are being filed at this time."
