I adopted a chocolate lab mixed dog last September after losing my long-time dog who passed away. Initially he did well at my home - I have a huge front and back yard…. Then after a few weeks, he began escaping… digging holes, climbing the fence… I got the fence repaired, he still managed to escape. After a while, he started returning on his own and the escaping has died down.
Now, though he has been crate-trained since I’ve had him - if I leave for more than an hour he poops in his crate. I downgraded to a smaller crate per vet instructions, he’s still doing it. I simply don’t have time to monitor him 24/7. I’m usually with him for the majority of every day and night but it’s getting to a point where I can’t get work done away from home without him making a mess.
Ideally, he’d do great on a ranch or farm where he has room to run. I walk him 4x/day at least, and that still doesn’t feel like enough sometimes. I believe he is mixed with some type of Pointer - he sniffs everything obsessively and is very intelligent. He does well on the leash and sleeps when I sleep. He just doesn’t do well by himself, ever.
He is friendly with kids and other dogs. Not sure about cats.
There will be a small adoption fee to ensure he goes to a great home that is fitting for him. He is current on all of his vaccinations and I just got him neutered 10 days ago. Will provide all vet documents/tags/receipts. He is groomed regularly and his nails have been trimmed.
Please contact me if you are interested and have read all of the details regarding his personality and believe he could be a fit for you/your family. He is 2yrs old.
