The City of Ashtabula and its leadership continues to amaze me and others. The City Manager/Council wants to lease the land and take on maintenance costs to preserve the Harbor Coal Bridge, REALLY ?!. The City of Ashtabula is a dollar close to being in fiscal emergency, the City is broke and yet our leaders want to take on another delusional expense?, for what a visual? Is that coal bridge the "icon" of the City I thought it was the lift bridge. Do you know what I see when I look at the coal bridge? the railroad industry that left our City high and dry taking hundreds of jobs away, a coal/iron oar shipping industry that was shut down taking more jobs away, and get this the Company that closed down our shipping port Norfolk and Southern, our City now wants to do business with them ? this is laughable. Take a drive around our City and tell me what you see, drive down our streets with your neckbrace on and tell me what you feel. If this coal bridge deal and the expense is even a thought with our City leaders A THOUGHT with everything falling down around them in this City then it's time they be replaced. Delusional that is what our City leaders are.
