Mission Statement: Our mission statement is focused on non-discriminating, compassionate care to those in need. The purpose of Other Options, Inc., is to provide food, resources, services, and education to at-risk individuals and families with a focus on those affected by HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) and AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome). Our primary target population is low or no income individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS or a serious illness. The primary program at Other Options is the Friends Food Pantry which provides nutrient dense food, nutrition formula, and toiletries to our clients and their families that can shop weekly. A delivery program for over 38 homebound and bedfast individuals/families that provides food baskets and easy to prepare meals is also in place at Other Options. The Founding Board Members of Other Options working in the health care community in the early 1980s saw the need to educate and inform those who were affected by Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), as well as health professionals and government agencies. That need became the foundation for Other Options. Our charter and non-profit status were completed in 1989 in time to produce the AIDS for HIV/AIDS handbook requested by The Governors Task Force on AIDS. We have been active in the HIV and AIDS community since that time. Collaborating with other HIV/AIDS Services and Community Based Organizations state-wide, Other Options is committed to providing quality care to the men, women and children living With HIV/AIDS as well as Prevention Education to the affected community. We Can’t Do It Alone Other Options is an all volunteer agency. We continue to rely on caring people who give their time and energy. Our need for volunteers is as constant as the need for services. As a volunteer, you can use your talents and skills, learn a new one, teach others. Call us to schedule an informal meeting with our Volunteer Coordinator or Director. Financial support comes from local foundations, corporations, religious organizations, civic groups, private donations and individuals like yourself as well as fund raising events in the community. Donations of fresh produce, milk, cheese, eggs and meat come from you. Bulk items are purchased with your money at the OKC Food Bank and other wholesale stores. Other Options, Inc. is a non-profit organization, exempt from Federal taxation under the 501 (C) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Your donations are tax deductible.
