Description
LAGUNA BEACH, CA — On July 22, Laguna Art Museum will host an evening that combines art, photography and artists.
The Laguna Art Museum's current exhibit, Matthew Rolston, Art People: The Pageant Portraits, showcases the work behind the creations that make up the Pageant of the Masters. Photo artist Matthew Rolston delves deep into both the art and pageantry of that event. Later this month, Rolston will speak alongside Getty Curator of Photographs Paul Martineau will participate in a lively panel discussion.
Arts editor and critic Lindsay Preston Zappas will moderate the discussion.
Discussions will focus on the history of Californian photography and, in particular, the legacies between photographic movements of the early modernist period, according to a museum spokesperson. The artists will contrast the Laguna photographic community of the 1930s and 40s against the contemporaneous photographic community of Carmel, Northern California, and the Bay Area, known as Group f/64.
Advance tickets are recommended. $13 for adults; $11 for seniors and students; free for LAM members.
