4 Dead At Faster Horses Festival, Carbon Monoxide Suspected

BROOKLYN, MI — Four people are dead, and another two hospitalized, from the Faster Horses Festival in Brooklyn, Michigan, this weekend. Three of the deaths reported Saturday are suspected to be carbon monoxide-related, according to multiple reports, while the death of a woman reported earlier on Saturday is considered unrelated. The three men whose deaths are considered to be caused by carbon monoxide poisoning at the country-music festival were found in a travel trailer at a campground near the festival, according to a USA Today report. They were all pronounced dead at the scene, as two other men in the trailer were taken to a hospital in critical condition, the newspaper reported, citing Lenawee County Sheriff's officials. Medical staff performed CPR in an attempt to save the fatal victims, according to Click on Detroit. "This tragic incident is being investigated as a suspected carbon monoxide exposure from a generator located very near the travel trailer," the sheriff's office's statement to USA Today said. Earlier on Saturday, Melissa Donna Havens, 30, was found dead at the festival that drew thousands to the Michigan International Speedway, according to the USA Today. The three-day festival is scheduled to end on Sunday. Havens' death is considered unrelated to the carbon monoxide poisonings, as a person of interest, a man who was last seen with her, is wanted, Click on Detroit reported.
