Rehoming 4year old Australian Shepherd

Description
We unfortunately have to rehome our dogs due to our youngest developing asthma. We appreciate no judgement. This decision didn’t come lightly and we are heartbroken but know it’s best for the happiness of our dogs and family. See other post for 6 month border collie/corgi mix. Finn is 4 year old Double Merle Australian Shepherd. We did not get him from a breeder, we rescued him when he was 4months old. He has no known major health issues, although we suspect some decline in his hearing sensitivity and sight. He is not blind or deaf, but gets confused on noises sometimes. He is VERY smart. Knows a lot of commands and we did Got Sit dog training with him when we lived in Seattle when he was a puppy. He is a family friendly dog, and very protective when you need him to be. He would definitely scare off an intruder. He has nipped before at new guests, but never bitten or attacked. He does require some hand holding while meeting new people but warms up very quick. What works best is the new person not paying attention to him until he calms down and sits then the guest can greet him when he as obeyed. Other than this small personality “flaw”, he is really an amazing companion. He would do best with a very large yard, and a job to do. We have failed him in that area his only job has been protecting our kids, which has backfired. We have an average sized fully fenced yard and not enough to keep him busy. He is very high energy and very attached to his people. He will make a very loyal companion. He LOVES other dogs. Would seemlessly fit into a family who has another. He is not an alpha type. If you have time and energy for this lovely fella, and land an maybe even livestock this is the dog for you! If you live in a suburban neighborhood like us, with a busy family, social life, and house guests often, this is not the dog for you. Happy to answer any and all questions. Finn is the greatest dog and we are heartbroken. He is not neutered, as we were waiting for him to turn 4 to do so. He has never been bred, and due to his double Merle SHOULD NOT BE BRED, it would be FATAL to any puppies he sired. Do some research on his breed and his double Merle. We will be selecting his home pretty carefully. Thank you for looking!
