Description

PhilaLandmarks Early Music Series PhilaLandmarks hosts Filament as they perform "Music on the Fringes" in the Powel House garden. Throughout time, and perhaps especially in most recent times, music has endured on the fringes. Whether toppling preconceived ideas of what’s possible in art, dashed on scraps of manuscript then forgotten in dusky corners, inflected in an idiom all the composer’s own, or kept alive in ponderous solitude during a pandemic, music thrives on the edge. Filament explores the forms that edge takes in its newest program, Music on the Fringes, a garden of sonic delights featuring works by composers ranging from Dario Castello to Élisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre.  Please bring your own picnic blankets, or other seating. Guests are encouraged to BYOB, although wine and beer will be available. Come outside and celebrate music with us! The Philadelphia Society for the Preservation of Landmarks in collaboration with the Franklin Quartet, Night Music, Filament, and Kleine Kammermusik presents the fourth annual concert series at the Powel House and the Hill-Physick House, two of the society’s 18th-century mansions in Society Hill, Philadelphia. This season’s four events will bring life to historic venues through vibrant period-instrument chamber music performances. The Philadelphia Society for the Preservation of Landmarks inspires people to engage with history by preserving our unique historic sites and by providing related historical, educational and cultural programming.
