International Day of Women of African Descent at the Leimert Art Walk by Afro Unidad Join us to honor these mighty Queens of the Afro diaspora on July 25! It’s International Day of Women of African Descent and we’ll be live at the #LeimertArtWalk at @kaosnetworkz in LA. Gratitude to the Queens @nikkicampbell05 🇵🇦 @auravasquezofficial 🇨🇴 @nadia_calmet 🇵🇪 Dorsay Dujon @makemusicla 🇯🇲 @callmeboatema_ 🇹🇹 and @taneetheto 🇺🇸 for sharing the wisdom and culture of our ancestors. In 1992, Black women from 32 different Latin American and Caribbean countries united in the Dominican Republic to fight the racism and sexism they face. The day became known a La Día Internacional de la Mujer Afrodescendiente or the International Afro-Latin American and Afro-Caribbean Women Day. Now every year on July 25th, the world comes together to celebrate Black women. Now the day is accepted by UNESCO and other international organizations and celebrates all women of African descent across the diaspora.
